Port of Ostend (Oostende)

Like the port of Zeebrugge, the port of Ostend lies on the Belgian coast. It is the smaller of the two coastal ports and concentrates on the construction and maintenance of windfarms in the North Sea. The port of Ostend was once Belgium’s largest passenger harbour, but this activity has reduced sharply in recent years. A major part of the traffic consists of sand and gravel dredged from the sea for the local building industry.
